14th ANNUAL BBQ/BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL
Each year, the 3rd weekend in August, over 25 BBQ teams compete at our festival in Worland, Wyo. for prizes totaling $10,000! This event draws nearly 2000 spectators.
AT THE FESTIVAL
The Washakie County Fairgrounds is a large grassy area, surrounded by plenty of shade trees. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs. No pets are allowed at the festival. BBQ smoking is all that is allowed on the fairground property; please do not bring tobacco products.
All purchases at the BBQ Festival must be made with bone bucks which can be bought at the two onsite Pinnacle Bank locations. Bone Bucks are used in order to ensure vendors get paid appropriately. This also helps maintain free admission into the festival. If you have unused Bone Bucks, you can cash them back in, but at the festival only. No bone bucks will be cashed back in after the festival closes. You can also save unused Bone Bucks for use at the next years festival or donate them back.
Worland is located in the middle of the beautiful Big Horn Basin half way between Casper, Wyo. and Billings, Mont. Turn at the junction of State Highway 433, on Highway 16/20 and then follow to the fairgrounds. This friendly little town with a big heart invites you to not only attend our free festival, but to enjoy the other sights around the area. Taste mouthwatering BBQ while listening to fabulous Bluegrass musicians. Bring the family and enjoy tasty food while visiting with friends.
The Wyoming BBQ and Bluegrass Festival is a family-friendly event! That’s why we have our kid zone set up! Plenty of kid friendly activities such as bouncy toys, face painting, kiddie train, and dunking booth. A nominal fee may be charged for some of these activities. We even have a BBQ competition for the kiddos on Saturday morning.
OBSTACLE COURSE BY NATIONAL GUARD
The obstacle course is roughly 140 feet long and 15 feet wide. It includes a climbing wall and a slide at the end. All ages will be allowed on the obstacle course. A waiver will be required and must be signed by a parent or guardian if the participant is under 18. The top time for 16-years-old and above will receive a prize at the end of the day. Lanyards and water bottles will be handed out at the event.
